The location is perfect. Comfortable rooms, well equipped with everything you needed to semi make your own meals. All was great & staff were the nicest & most helpful. Staff at Wilde know how to treat their guest right. Amy with her big bright smile, daily greetings & eagarness to help and make guest feel at home. Stewart took the cake by booking us an Uber & paying for it so we would not miss our train, because it was snowing outside & the cab had not arrived. we offered to pay him back but he said just go," I do not want you to miss your train." We did not miss it, thanks to Stewart. I noticed Stewart making some tea for an old grandma, earlier at breakfast, at the same time, taking care of her grandson, also giving him a small jug of milk to carry back to his grandma so she could have it with her tea. Very sweet, all the while, talking to the young boy & asking him questions. This is type of hospitality is hard to find, Wilde either has chosen well or taught their staff extremely well. However it never felt, like it was put on, they genuinely cared. These two did not seem to be doing this as a job, they were enjoying caring for their guest, they were genuine & took time to get to know the guest they were serving at the hotel. Cheers to these two, so appreciated. We will want to come & stay at Wilde again & again. We did not get photos with these two delightful people so... Next time!!!

Three nights in April. This hotel is a proper gem. The location just off Grassmarket is perfect - close to everything but not too close to anything. In the shadow of the castle, it was quiet and peaceful. We walked maybe 70K steps in our three days in Edinburgh because everything was within 15-20 min walk. We were there to tour the University of Edinburgh and St. Andrews, and this location was convenient both for the U and to catch trains to Leuchars / St Andrews. We bought some minor groceries at Sainsbury's nearby which we used in the room, but mostly dined out. The kitchenette is well provisioned for basic cooking and eating, no extras but we found we had what we needed. The reception area / bar / restaurant is straightforward and functional, and the staff are exceedingly courteous, friendly, and professional. The room (two twin beds) wouldn't be called spacious, but it was fine, and the shower and bathroom were excellent. Intuitive lighting and climate system, good TV, blackout shades. This is not a traditional four-star, it is not for people who need a lot of handholding, but it is perfectly situated and set up for seasoned travelers. Overall excellent hotel, would definitely visit again.

Be prepared for a solid workout to get to the hotel - it's location is definitely a plus but you'll need extra leg power. In the room there is a dryer (with strong air flow), iron with ironing board, fridge, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, kettle and induction hob. Everything is of good quality and works perfectly. You can easily prepare a hot meal or a snack for the road. Dishwashing detergents and sponges, bottled water, tea and coffee are also in stock. Take a moment to study the electrical panels on the wall - there are a lot of options there for lighting, automatic curtains and air conditioning. Don't forget to insert the card though. ; ) The cosmetics available in the room (shampoo, conditioner, cleansing gel and soap) are full-sized, so you don't have to bother bringing your own. They smell nice and do not irritate the skin or hair. The breakfast is rather modest, but there is everything to be satisfied. Haggis was a tasty surprise, don't be afraid to try. Overall, the hotel was very clean and the staff were polite and attentive. I really enjoyed my stay. : )))

The location is perfect for exploring the old town, great view of the castle and within easy reach of all the main tourist trails, close to bus and rail services too. The hotel is cashless, policies are clear and simple. Check in and out seamless and we were able to extend check out for a very reasonable fee. The staff are welcoming, helpful and always on hand. Room service can be as your choice, not intrusive at all. In fact a model others could copy. The room we had was warm, well furnished and equipped, modern smart/eco switches and a very comfortable bed. Blackout shutters to help light sleepers are amazing. Bathroom is small but functional and the shower hot and with good pressure (a huge bonus for me.)

The lady that checked us in (Ava?) was extremely friendly and informative. Great way to start the stay. Room was clean and modern and included a Nespresso maker as well as a few complimentary sweets. Wifi worked well. The location was absolutely perfect. It has the feeling of being on a quiet street yet just 200 meters up the road you were in the heart of Old Town. You can see the castle from the hotel entrance and there is discounted parking a 2 minute walk from the hotel. It's easy for someone to state "I would stay here again", but in our case we actually did as three nights later we came back for the Edinburgh Tattoo.
